Top 10 breakfast places in Berlin

1. Le Bon
This one is my absolute favorite. Le Bon is a small cozy restaurant in Kreuzberg. Their menu is small, but don’t let yourself be fooled, it’s quality over quantity. My personal favorite are the pancakes with caramel, banana, and berries. Let me tell you, they are heaven. Another favorite of ours is the avocado toast, it’s well seasoned and has homemade potatoe ruffles on top.

2. Commonground

I don’t usually go to hotel restaurants, but commonground is an exception. A really modern and chic restaurant and bar, that is part of the Circus Hotel. The French toast is served with berry yogurt and is one of the best French toast I’ve eaten so far. But what I like most about this place is the atmosphere. If you sit in the front you have a great view on the streets of “Mitte”, but if you prefer a calmer environment they also have a backyard, which is quite beautiful.

  • Rosenthaler Str. 1 / Mitte / 10119 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 7:30-midnight / Saturday & Sunday: 8:30-midnight

3. Cozy’s

Cozy’s is one of the better breakfast places at the Boxhagenerplatz. Instead of serving the typical German “Wurst und Käse Platten” they have Fruit bowls, smoothies as well as pastries and baked goods. My personal favorites are the Mango bowl and the cheese croissant. Another reason why cozy’s has become one of my favorites is that they serve good coffee as well as high-quality tea.

  • Gabriel-Max-Straße 15A / Friedrichshain / 10245 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 10:00-17:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 10:00-18:00

4. Roamers

If you have time you should go to Roamers in Kreuzberg. It’s amazing for breakfast but super tiny and you’ll have to bring some time with you. It’s definitely worth it though. They have pancakes, toast, cake and good coffee. It’s every food bloggers favorite breakfast place in the city.

  • Pannierstraße 64 / Kreuzberg / 12043 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 9:30-18:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 10:00-19:00

5. Haferkater

When looking for a quick breakfast Haferkater is the right choice, they have a store in the central station as well as one in Friedrichshain and in Prenzlauerberg. Offering a great variety of porridge it’s the perfect to-go breakfast. We love the “Beerenkater” but you should also try the “Ziegenkater”, it’s porridge with goat cheese, pear, and walnuts.

6. Daluma

This one is for all the health freaks out there. Daluma is famous for its juices, smoothies, and bowls. Almost everything is vegan and Gluten Free. I really love their juices, one time I had a black juice with charcoal and I swear it tasted so good. It’s also really nice to sit on their porch and just watch the people passing by.

  • Weinbergsweg 3 / Mitte / 10119 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 8:00-21:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 10:00-20:00

7. Distrikt Coffee

Another gem in Berlin Mitte is Distrikt Coffee. I went there 5 times for the pancakes, but sadly they never had them at that moment. But even without the pancakes, it’s a great environment for breakfast and they have more to offer than JUST the pancakes. During summer they offer yogurt with strawberries, rhubarb, basil and granola topping, it’s definitely worth trying. It can be really crowded on the weekends, but during the week it’s not a problem to get a table.

  • Bergstraße 68 / Mitte / 10115 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 8:30-17:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 9:30-17:00

8. East & Eden

Located at Torstrasse, East & Eden is in walking distance of Distrikt Coffee and the Hackesche Höfe. I’m normally more of a sweet breakfast person, but their paninis were really good. They offer a good variety of shakes, juices, and smoothies. The shakes are really good, they even offer some with avocado, like the espresso shake. Sounds weird, but the avocado makes them super creamy and delicious.

  • Torstraße 141 / Mitte / 10119 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 8:30-17:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 9:30-17:00

9. Dots

When we moved here we were surprised how many good cafes and restaurants are located in Kreuzberg/Neukölln. Dots is one of them. A really minimalistic but nice cafe with a good breakfast menu. All over Berlin, the breakfast menu is almost the same, it’s usually avocado toast, poached eggs, pancakes, and granola. Dots is no different but that doesn’t make it any less interesting. I would recommend you the sourdough grilled cheese and the pancakes with maple cream.

  • Weserstraße 191 / Kreuzberg / 12045 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 9:00-18:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 9:30-19:00

10. Kaffebar

One of our most recent discoveries. As the name already gives away it’s known for it’s coffee, even though the breakfast and cakes are just as good. I had avocado toast (as always) and Danny had a quinoa bowl with poached egg and avocado. Later we each got a piece of cake, I had lemon-poppy and he had coconut, and they were so good.

  • Graefestraße 8 / Kreuzberg / 10967 Berlin
  • Monday to Friday: 7:30-19:00 / Saturday & Sunday: 9:30-19:00
